We are sacrificing our children on the altar of the Second Amendment

As far as I can tell, America is sacrificing its children on the altar of the Second Amendment. That seems to be okay with our politicians and the NRA, which is basically the lobbying arm of the gun industry. It is NOT okay with me, and we need to take action to see that incidents like the one in Connecticut (and Oregon, and Colorado . . . .) become harder to commit and rarer to happen. Have we lost our will or our minds?

And speaking of losing our minds, folks like Mike Huckabee who said "We ask why there is violence in our schools, but we have systematically removed God from our schools . . . ." are know-nothing vultures who are trying to leverage this horrible tragedy into a theocratic platform. Using the deaths of the children to make such a vile and senseless point is reprehensible.

To put it another way, this man and those who parrot his words are repugnant, asinine jackasses.

Class warfare and Mitt Romney

A couple of quick thoughts about "class warfare":

Whenever someone questions the income disparity and inequality in our society, the main tactic seems to be to scream "class warfare" loudly, as if that invalidates any point that might be being made. But when Mitt Romney makes a statement about 47 per cent of this country's population being unwilling to take responsibility for their lives (which I guess means "Shut up and get back to work . . . YOU TOO GRANDPA!"), I saw no attempts by anyone, even the Democrats, to frame that as "class warfare". Which, by the way, given the audience Mittens was speaking to (a bunch of rich donors who had paid more than many people make in a year to have dinner with Mitt) and Romney's own financial status, it is.

I'd love to hear THAT point made in the next debate . . .

(p.s.: I know that Mittens and Appalling Ryan have tried to walk this quote back, but I think you only need to look at Mitt's record of lies and flip flops to know what to believe.)

The Wing Nut World has Gone In-Fucking-Sane

Happy Veterans Day, to one and all, but especially to the folks over at Google, who thought they'd commemorate the occasion by altering their logo to suit the occasion, only to be reminded that the world is full of people who are crazy and freaked-out on a 24-hour basis about Sharia law!

Google's design today uses the staff of a waving American flag as the "L" in its name, which means Old Glory itself obstructs the "E" in it's name, leaving most of the letter obscured, save for the OMGZ ISLAM CREEPING CALIPHATE TAKEOVER CRESCENT, obviously.

Every time I think the wing nuts are as batshit crazy as they are going to get, they prove me wrong. Hey, what about this example of the creeping Muslim influence?:

Scary, huh? Also just as full of shit as the Google logo theory.
