Busier than a cat in a roomful of rockin' chairs . . . .

Mucho business here, as the music festival I work for is in full swing.

Here's a picture from it of Chris Smither during his sound check. Chris did a superb set as a part of a double bill with mandolinist Mike Marshall and his group Choro Famoso. Chris played a few new songs from his upcoming CD, including one called "Diplomacy" that he called an "ode to the State Department". A couple of these songs were very political, and Chris remarked that it's getting to feel like the 1960s again, when it was "okay to be a little rude". His guitar playing was excellent as usual, and he did a dynamite version of "Love You Like a Man", which he said has been covered by about 15 people, "all Women, who change the title to 'Love ME Like a Man". But that's okay, as long as the royalty checks have my name on 'em."
