It's that time of year when we prepare for the winter to come by splitting, stacking, and organizing our stock of firewood. Seeing this cord or so of oak ready for covering is a very reassuring sight.



I know such a direct connection with the source of one's warmth is an alien concept for many in our country, but for my wife and me, it is a real joy.
