Chris Webster and Nina Gerber play a gig on the North Coast

On February 28 I was privileged to see a wonderful and intimate concert with Chris Webster and Nina Gerber, along with their friends Ray and Kathy Elzey of Gardenia Azul. They happy crowd who were lucky enough to see these folks got a real treat, as Chris's beautiful voice and Nina's incredible guitar playing meshed like pieces of an intricate puzzle, making music that was lovely, poignant, and at times funny. The pedal steel guitar playing of Ray and the harmonies and ukelele strumming of Kathy joined in at times to add a tasty seasoning to this auditory stew.

It was all utterly wonderful. If you have the chance to see any of these fine performers, grab it. And please, visit their web sites and check out their music. They are not hit makers, but they are true artists, and they deserve the attention of all serious music lovers.

Hi! I’m a longtime fan of Gardenia Azul and can’t find any info online about them. Any chance you happen to know what they are you to these days? I have their two cds on repeat and have for the last 15 years or so I guess! Kathys voice is entrancing and the music is spot on.
