The beauty of the backyard

We sure do live in a beautiful part of the country here, and right now there is a bursting forth of life in our backyard.

The pond near our cabin is alive with dragonflies . . .

. . . and small fish.

The strawberries are in pots, and look like they are going to be very productive.

The lilies are dying, but they are hosts to other life, like bugs.

Our zucchini is coming in great.

A new addition to our garden is are blueberries, which seem to be thriving quite nicely.

Another compost pile volunteer is this squash plant, which apparently sprouted from a refrigerator discard.

Getting in touch with the life which surrounds me is so important to my mental health and attitude. If I can keep aware of the continuity of the force of the universe as it manifests itself in these small, beautiful ways, then I am sure to keep my head on straight.
