Al Gore was a guest this week on Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show", and if you want evidence that evolution is real, compare his presentation to anything President Chimpy has to say. God, but it's hard to believe that this man isn't President! We wuz robbed! He talked about his new book, The Assault On reason, and made points like "Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11" and "global warming is happening." I know, I know, seems pretty obvious, but in fact someone has to make and remake these points, as the right wing wind machine continually make the opposite (or to put it another way, chickenshit lying) points. As Gore said, we are seeing a strange type of discourse where fantasies and untruth are given as much weigh as provable facts. This is how we wound up mired in a horrible, unwinnable farce of a war, and why we are still there.
It was good to hear Gore's voice of reason about all this crap. We need qualified, articulate people like him to step forward and make some of these vital arguments as part of the national discourse. Most of the other Democrats seem reluctant to do this, as if they are more willing to try to please assholes like Bill O'Rielly and the D.C. media crowd than representing the people who elected them in the first place.
If he were to run for President, well it just might rectify one of the biggest mistakes in American history.
