A fox in the birdhaus

This doesn't happen everyday: I was sitting at the computer, with my cockatiel Boomer on my shoulder, when he suddenly freaked out and started flying about wildly. I looked over through our sliding glass doors leading out to our deck, and this is what I saw:
What a bold little fox! He totally ignored me as I grabbed my camera, put in a memory card, and started snapping photos.
He took his time, even pausing before he left to pee on the watering can out there (though I didn't catch that action on digital memory.)
Some people wonder why I live in the remoteness of the redwoods up here, even though I'm really pretty close to the towns nearby. Well, things like this are little blessings that give me a connection to the natural world which is too good to pass up. Yesterday a hawk scooped up a pigeon and flew smack dab into the same glass door, losing his prey and flying dazedly off. Ya just can't beat that kind of drama in an urban setting.

Ahhh, the northwest nowhere . . . .
