Some of why I live where I do:

Northern California is an awesome place to live. There are some extreme facets to it, like last week I was woken up around 1:30 AM by our doors rattling from a small earthquake. But there are rewards also.

Yesterday, it rained all day, and then this morning the sun came out, and we were blessed with scenes like this:
Right off Todd's Point in Fort Bragg, CA. You can see the curve in the horizon from my digital camera's wide angle lens.

Clouds over the Pacific. So beautiful.

This is the ice plant, an invasive, non-native species that is choking out some of our native flora. Sure is purty, though.

The California poppy; and the reason it's called the "Golden State".

Being so close to the ocean is such a wonderful way to be reminded of nature's awesome glory. I feel humbled whenever I have a chance to contemplate the grandness found in the simplest of things. If I sound a little like a tourism PR flak, so be it.
