George Bush confesses to war crimes!

While the media has had a hissy fit about Obama's "bitter" remarks, this is what else is going on:

(Via Crooks and Liars)
In a stunning admission to ABC news Friday night, President Bush declared that he knew his top national security advisers discussed and approved specific details of the CIA’s use of torture. Bush reportedly told ABC, “I’m aware our national security team met on this issue. And I approved.” Bush also defended the use of waterboarding.

“We have always known that the CIA’s use of torture was approved from the very top levels of the U.S. government, yet the latest revelations about knowledge from the president himself and authorization from his top advisers only confirms our worst fears,” said Anthony D. Romero, Executive Director of the ACLU. “It is a very sad day when the president of the United States subverts the Constitution, the rule of law, and American values of justice.”
This is amazing, more for the fact that Congress, the media, and the courts are not up in arms about it than that Bush has finally admitted that which we already knew. If you are sick of this travesty, let your Representatives know you want action. Go here to send an email via the ACLU Action Alerts page. Silence is acquiescence. Let's prosecute Bush and his fellow criminals now!

Torture by any other name still stinks!

(Via truthout)

Geneva - The United Nations' torture investigator criticized the White House Wednesday for defending the use of waterboarding and urged the U.S. to give up its defense of "unjustifiable" interrogation methods.

The comments from Manfred Nowak, the U.N.'s special rapporteur on torture, came a day after the Bush administration acknowledged publicly for the first time that waterboarding was used by U.S. government questioners on three terror suspects.

Testifying before Congress, CIA Director Michael Hayden said the suspects were waterboarded in 2002 and 2003.

"This is absolutely unacceptable under international human rights law," Nowak said. "Time has come that the government will actually acknowledge that they did something wrong and not continue trying to justify what is unjustifiable."

The White House on Wednesday defended the use of waterboarding, saying it is legal - not torture as critics argue - and has saved American lives.

Our representatives are so far down the path to insanity that they can't see what is moral or even legal anymore. Impeachment needs to be back on the table. Throw the bastards out!

We won't have Gonzo to kick around anymore

My picture finally came true!!! I swear, all the train wrecks in this administration happen in slow motion.

Anyone giving odds on whether Gonzo will face true legal consequences for his many crimes? Is the statute of limitations on perjury reached when the door hits the resigner in the ass? He could still be impeached, ya know . . . .

Just wonderin':

"Please Lord, smite our enemies, which is everyone not in this room."

Ya know, here we have an administration that has lied to get us into an unwinnable, immoral war, trampled on the Constitution, and used every trick known (and some not known) to hold onto power. And yet still, if one talks about impeachment, one is called a "fringe" loony. It seems to me the fringe loonies are the ones who need to be impeached . . . .
